45mph winds forecast tonight…..lying in bed listening to the wind whistling and all I can think about is whether the plants or even the fence will still be there tomorrow. It was foul today, we both got wet and chilled to the bone. My attempt at a coffee cosy kept it hot for a few minutes longer than usual.
The plants arrived today but we just unloaded them, wheeled them into the floral marquee for protection and then carried on building the fence. A quick glance and we know that some of our orange choices need to get a move on and to start thinking about flowering.
Roger Platts was on site today and was very complimentary about the garden, thought my pruning of the little Acers ( are they ever little?) had left them a bit thin and agreed that we should give up on the Lonicera as they were beyond redemption! Nooooooo!
Rather than just talk about us I thought I would introduce the other metamorphosis gang. This is Lucinda Parish ( in real life she lives just down the road from me).
Her sophisticated design is inspired by modern architecture and has strong diagonal lines that frame the spaces within. When they they tested the water feature they found it was leaking and had to take it apart and start at again (we haven’t tested ours yet! )At the moment they are working hard to make up the time, it’s looking a bit muddy now
but will be really impressive.
I have seen Linda’s delivery from the nursery and confess I have plant envy, they are lush!
Jan and Andy still working hard and keeping us entertained, not sure what was funnier…Andy’s vocal delight, clenching his fist and shouting ‘YES’ when Jan made a very rare mistake with some measurements (so rare in fact we were lucky to witness it) or Jan telling Andy to ‘Man up and grow a beard!’ ☺
Still windy!Eeeeeek!
