Today we were on site at 8 and left at 8.30. The hard landscaping is done. The rill and pond do not leak (hurrah) and the gabions have been filled….ha, hindsight a wonderful thing.

Originally we naively thought we could fill the gabions but when BigFish offered we said yes 👍. Just as all because  most of the stones had to be cut by hand….another rookie mistake.

What a privilege to work with such expert craftsmen. Amanda spent the day preparing the plants for planting

while Bridget and I tackled the compacted ground…back breaking work…eventually we called for reinforcements….Ned and the digger…it took him ten minutes to remove the unwanted soil….I am sure it was at least a ton! At the end of a hot, hot day Lucinda appeared with ice lollies….
