#GardenJourney Day 6

May 30, 2015 ⋅ 0 Comments

I am trying to blog throughout  the day rather than at midnight when I am too tired so I am sitting in the atrium where it is baking hot.The pond and rill are completed and BigFish are starting on the paving proper. The Carpinus is in,waiting for a feed.

Today for us was all about manicuring the plants, cutting off  anything that is not performing and feeding to boost flowering. I have been hand washing the four Lonicera that  are infested with aphids….grrr, they were perfect when Bridget bought them! Really, washing each leaf and then rinsing off the soapy water. Crazy but needs must when the devil drives.

Had a bit of a design crisis, the hedges are not as tall as we expected, this means our fence will be lower ( to line up with the hedge ) and that our sculpture would be too big and protrude……Dramarama averted as Bridget recalced the dimensions and we could get away with adding another 5cm, also meant we did not have to use Caspian’s tin snippers and file to shorten the metal because generous as the offer was, it sounded like hard work. We are on track, three guys in tomorrow to nail the paving and put up the fence….GET IN!!
